Bandi, a small region, 25 km away from Jaipur is a centre for cow rearing. The cow rearers of this region along with Vaidya Prahlad Rai, Late Jugal Kishore Sharma Etc. They played an important role in the distribution of cow milk through Goseva Sangh to Jaipur and managed distribution on cycles. A counter named Goras Bhandar was established in the walled city in the year 1984 in Chaura rasta for the distribution of milk which is functional to date.

Later an organisation “Jaipur Gosamvardhan Samiti” was registered in 1985 which was different from Rajasthan Goseva Sangh. Shri Hari Krishna Gupta was the President and Shri Ram Ballabh Agrawal was the Secretary at its inception.

In 1992 Jaipur Gosamvardhan Samiti decided to extend its work. During that time 4000 liter cow milk was distributed everyday and they intended to increase it to 15000 litre in the next 6 years. For this, a lot of publicity was done for the collection of cow milk. Interest-free loans of 40 to 50 lakhs were provided for buying cows which were returned in 6 to 7 months by selling milk. Fodder is distributed and supplied to farmers’ godowns/homes. Bandi region has 45000 indigenous breed of cows and is called Denmark of Jaipur. Along with Maheshvas centre, Bandi collects 40000 litres , Phagi and Dausa area collects 5000 litres milk each every day. Milk is collected from 160 villages through 150 collection centers. In August 1995 a centre for collection of cow milk was opened in Bassi region, motivated by the success of Rampura region.

Presently the Samiti is distributing upto 50000 litres of cow milk to the public of Jaipur every day with customer base of 8000. The Samiti has not only worked in the improvement of the breed, but also has generated employment of thousands of cow rearers. Around 8000 families of the city have been benefited by consumption of cow milk. Samiti  also provides interest free loans to cow rearers for purchasing cows, organised distribution, helps in medication of cows, arranges seeds, reworks on  the rates from time to time and provides Pedigree Bull for breeding.

As the volume of the cow milk increased, the Goras Bhandar of Chaura Rasta was insufficient, so another centre at Murlipura was setup along with refrigeration unit and was inaugurated on 8.2.1995.

To provide cow milk to  different consumers in Jaipur city, the Sales and distribution centres were opened in Mansarovar, Sector 3 of Malaviyanagar in the year  1996, in Bhagwati nagar and sector 4 of Malaviayanagar in Oct.1997 and later in Durgapura, Jawaharnagar and Bajajnagar. The key members who contributed in the progress of Samiti are Shri Kalyan Sahai Gupta, Shri. Brahmadutt Sharma, Late Shri Bhawarlal Kothari. At present, Shri Manak Ji Bohra, and Shri Kalyan Gupta are working as the secretary with Dr. D.S Bhandari as the President of the society.

The key activities in which the Samiti is actively involved are:

• Procurement of cow milk from 1400 farmers in different villages of Jaipur district and Dausa district.
• Distribution of milk after scientific processing to the consumer in and around Jaipur city.
• Preparation of high-quality Goras Ghee in the modern dairy plant at Murlipura.
• Preparation of high-quality milk products like Goras Desi Milk, Desi Cow Ghee, Bilona Ghee, Kesar Pista Shrikhand, Chaach, and Lassi.
• Selecting the best breed of cows in the region for our organization and competition.
• Loan distribution for the purchase of high-quality cows to the farmers without any interest.
• Distribution of high-quality fodder seed to the farmers supplying to the society.

Diversity of work was necessary – it was also necessary from a commercial point of view. The efforts made in this direction by the organization were to make shrikhand, buttermilk, and ghee. It was a common perception of people that the shrikhand, ghee, milk made by Jaipur Gosamvardhan Samiti are good and pure. Businessmen associated with this work used to buy milk from us for making rasgulla. All this was possible due to the efforts of the management and their loyal team members.
