Traditionally Bilona Cow Ghee is prepared by churning method. First, milk is obtained from indigenous (desi) cow. This milk is boiled in earthen pots and kept overnight till it converts to curd. This curd is then converted to butter. Bilona(churn) method is used to get butter out of the curd using wooden made ravaiya in an earthen pot. After that butter is heated in clay pots using cow dung. Thus we get ‘Pure Bilona Cow Ghee’. Approximatly 30-35 lites of cow milk is used to prepare 1 liter of Bilona Cow Ghee, hence it is costlier compared to other milk.
